Overview
Arts visuels is a pre-university DEC that builds artistic expression and creative skills across both traditional artistic disciplines and newer technology-based practices. The college's page describes free access to much of the material needed for student projects, and workshops covering sculpture, woodworking, and metalworking, alongside coursework in photography and digital imaging and access to experimental sound labs using specialized software. Students attend conferences and activities related to the art world, such as exhibitions and visits to museums, galleries, and artist-run centres, and exhibit their own projects both at the college and in other public spaces. Students also build a professional portfolio over the course of the program. A Double DEC option lets students pair Arts visuels with either Sciences humaines or Arts, lettres et communication, earning two diplomas together. It suits students who want to explore and develop their artistic and creative capacities across a range of media, including sculpture, photography, sound, and digital practice, as preparation for university studies in visual art or related creative fields.

Admission Requirements: The programme's own conditions d'admission page states no specific secondary-school course prerequisites ("Aucun préalable requis") and no portfolio requirement, so admission rests on the Cégep's general entry conditions and the Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES). Québec and Canadian applicants apply exclusively through the Service régional d'admission du Montréal métropolitain (SRAM, admission.sram.qc.ca); for fall entry the first round closes March 1 (with possible second and third rounds), and for winter entry the first round closes November 1. International applicants must show the equivalent of eleven completed years of schooling, evaluated by the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Francisation et de l'Intégration (MIFI) or by SRAM; the Cégep recommends the Bright test at level C1 (at least 4.0 on the CEFR scale), filed in the SRAM dossier. Applications go through SRAM's international-candidates section with card payment online; for fall entry the window opens March 15 of the prior year and closes March 14, and for winter entry it opens June 1 two years before and closes May 31 one year before.
