Overview
Techniques de design d'intérieur is a technical DEC — the only one offered in the Montérégie region — preparing students to develop interior-design concepts for residential, commercial, and industrial spaces, such as kitchens and bathrooms, while taking clients' material and financial requirements into account. The curriculum includes a course in computer-assisted drafting and building information modelling (BIM), and students take part in interprogram projects in collaboration with the college's architecture-technology students. Starting in fall 2025, newly admitted students are required to have and use their own laptop computer under the college's "DEC portable" model. Near the end of the program, students complete a four-to-six-week work placement, in Quebec or abroad, and build a professional portfolio and business cards to support their transition into the field. The credential is recognized by the Association professionnelle des designers d'intérieur du Québec (APDIQ). It suits students passionate about current design trends who enjoy drawing and art in general, seeking a hands-on technical pathway into residential, commercial, or industrial interior design.

Admission Requirements: The programme's own conditions d'admission page states no specific secondary-school course prerequisites ("Aucun préalable requis") and no portfolio requirement, so admission rests on the Cégep's general entry conditions and the Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES). Québec and Canadian applicants apply exclusively through the Service régional d'admission du Montréal métropolitain (SRAM, admission.sram.qc.ca); for fall entry the first round closes March 1 (with possible second and third rounds), and for winter entry the first round closes November 1. International applicants must show the equivalent of eleven completed years of schooling, evaluated by the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Francisation et de l'Intégration (MIFI) or by SRAM; the Cégep recommends the Bright test at level C1 (at least 4.0 on the CEFR scale), filed in the SRAM dossier. Applications go through SRAM's international-candidates section with card payment online; for fall entry the window opens March 15 of the prior year and closes March 14, and for winter entry it opens June 1 two years before and closes May 31 one year before.
