Overview
The Baking Skills program has been specifically designed to meet industry demands for professional bakers. Whether you aspire to work within a large company or want to pursue your own baking business, the fundamental baking skills you'll learn in this culinary arts program will get you there. You'll hone the skills employers are looking for in Centennial College's baking and pastry labs, which include a one-of-a-kind commercial bake lab as well as a cafe, restaurant and event centre. From covering fine decorating and finishing skills to large quantity production techniques, this program will make you work-ready upon graduation. To further increase your employability, you'll leave the Baking Skills program with important industry certifications such as Smart Serve, Safe Food Handlers and CPR. The commercial baking sector is one of the most expansive and dynamic industries in the world, with limitless career opportunities. The Ocean Wise Program The School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts and The Local Cafe and Restaurant use delicious and ocean-friendly Ocean Wise products. Ocean Wise is a conservation and education program that works with chefs, restaurants and seafood suppliers to help them with sustainable seafood sourcing. Feast On® Certification Centennial College's School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts has become the first academic institution to receive Feast On® certification for its sourcing of local food and beverage products used in the academic programs as well as for the school's experiential-learning foodservice operations. The Culinary Tourism Alliance established the Feast On certification program to recognize businesses committed to sourcing Ontario-grown and -produced food and drink.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This certificate requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or mature-applicant status at 19 or older. Applicants need Grade 12 English at the C or U level, or an equivalent minimum grade, and may substitute Centennial's own English Admission Test for that requirement. The program page defers its English-proficiency standard to Centennial's institution-wide requirement, which for certificate and diploma programs sets IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 67 with Reading at least 16 and Writing at least 23, and PTE Academic 51. Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca; international applicants apply directly to Centennial. The program's availability table currently lists only a Winter 2027 (January) intake as open to both domestic and international applicants.

Application Deadline:Centennial publishes no application deadline for this program; what follows is the Ontario college cycle that governs it. Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for a program starting in Fall 2027 the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, and applications arriving after it are still assessed, but first-come first-served while places remain. Across the Ontario college system the application opened on 26 September 2026, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and an offer must be accepted by 1 May 2027. One $150 fee covers up to five program choices. International applicants apply directly to Centennial through its own international application process and are assessed on a rolling basis across the Fall, Winter and Summer intakes; the college publishes no fixed international closing date. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
