Diploma in Sciences de la nature is a diploma in Natural Sciences programme offered by Champlain Regional College in Sherbrooke, Canada. The programme runs for 2 years. Teaching is in French. Tuition for international students is CAD 15,150 per year (CAD 3,740 per year for local students).
Sciences de la nature (Science, DEC 200.B1) is a two-year pre-university diploma offered at all three Champlain Regional College campuses: Lennoxville, Saint-Lambert, and St. Lawrence in Quebec City. Across the program, students build a shared foundation in biology, chemistry, mathematics, computer science and physics, studying scientific problems through the experimental methods used by working scientists. Each campus organizes this core curriculum into its own profiles: Lennoxville offers a flexible General profile alongside Math-and-Physics and Life-and-Health tracks, while Saint-Lambert and St. Lawrence each split the program into a Health Science stream, guaranteeing courses such as human anatomy and physiology and organic chemistry, and a Pure-and-Applied stream that lets students choose elective science courses matching their interests. All versions combine this discipline-specific coursework with the general education courses required of every DEC and conclude with an integrative capstone project. Entry requires Secondary 5 mathematics, chemistry and physics. Graduates receive a Diplôme d'études collégiales that transfers into university bachelor's programs across the sciences. The program suits students who enjoy logical, evidence-based thinking and want a broad grounding in the natural sciences before choosing a specific university pathway in fields such as medicine, engineering or the life sciences.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Science program (200.B1) at Champlain College St. Lawrence requires Chemistry 534 or equivalent, Physics 534 or equivalent, and Mathematics TS or SN 5, alongside a Quebec Secondary IV/V record meeting the college's general entrance standard. St. Lawrence is not a member of Quebec's regional SRAM admission service; applicants apply directly through the college's own online portal and Omnivox, with deadlines of March 1st for the Fall semester and November 1st for Winter. Certificate-holder status under Quebec's language charter affects which French and English course sequence a student is placed into, and non-Certificate Holders must eventually pass the ministerial Epreuve uniforme de francais, though this is a program-completion requirement rather than an admission test. English proficiency for international or out-of-province applicants is verified through the college's own in-house online English-level assessment ($35), which is not conditional on admission itself; no external test such as TOEFL or IELTS is accepted in its place, and no minimum score is published for this internal assessment.
Application Details
Start Date:Fall
Application Deadline:Applications to Champlain College-Lennoxville go through the Service regional d'admission du Montreal metropolitain (SRAM). First-round deadlines for Fall 2027 entry are 1 March 2027 for Quebec and Canadian applicants and 15 March 2027 for international applicants; for Winter 2027 entry the first-round deadlines are 1 November 2026 domestically and 1 June 2026 for international applicants, the latter already past by this fetch date. Missing the first round is not final: SRAM opens second and third rounds with remaining seats, though spaces are very limited, and round-one decisions become available from 2 April. Admission therefore runs through successive SRAM rounds rather than a single hard cutoff, so later applicants are still considered while seats remain. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
