Overview

This Ontario apprenticeship program trains students as a teaching assistant/educational assistant (Aide-enseignante/aide-enseignant, AEAP, trade code 620E) through Collège Boréal's Apprenticeship Office. Training is delivered online and combines practical, on-the-job instruction supervised by a sponsoring employer with theoretical in-school training completed remotely in scheduled blocks. To register, applicants must first secure a sponsoring employer willing to supervise their practical training hours, then apply through the Ontario Skilled Trades portal and register with the college's Apprenticeship Office. On successful completion of both components, apprentices receive a Certificate of Apprenticeship from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, along with a Certificate of Qualification where the trade requires one. Students who complete this program at Collège Boréal are also eligible for an Ontario College Certificate of Studies (CECO), with a stated pathway toward further diploma completion (passerelle vers la diplomation).

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants must first secure a sponsoring employer (parrain) willing to supervise their practical, on-the-job training hours. Once an employer is confirmed, applicants apply through the Ontario Skilled Trades portal (Skilled Trades Ontario) and then register with Collège Boréal's Apprenticeship Office.
