Trades - Apprenticeship in Praticienne/praticien du développement de l'enfant (PDEA) (620C)

This apprenticeship program trains apprentices to support children's development from birth to age 12, planning and leading activities suited to children's needs, observing their progress, and communicating with parents and colleagues about strengths and challenges. Entry requires a sponsoring employer who provides and supervises practical, on-the-job training hours, combined with theoretical instruction delivered online on dates set by the college. The program is organized into two levels: Level 1 (561 hours), covering health, safety and nutrition, child development, child protection, inclusive practices, creative activities, and early-years and school-age placements; and Level 2 (564 hours), covering interpersonal communication, family and community, professional practice, infant and toddler placements, and program administration and policy. Completion leads to an apprenticeship certificate under trade code 620C, issued through Skilled Trades Ontario. Apprentices may enrol at any time in a diploma pathway toward the Early Childhood Education diploma, required for registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators. The program is delivered by Collège Boréal in partnership with Ontario's Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and Skilled Trades Ontario.
