Overview
This continuing-education (AEC) program, delivered jointly with flight school Orizon Aviation at Quebec City's Jean-Lesage International Airport, provides the theoretical knowledge and practical skills for piloting in Canada and internationally. It runs about two years (1,140 hours) across five sessions, including one or two summer sessions. Coursework leads to a Private Pilot Licence (PPL), a Commercial Pilot Licence with instrument rating (CPL-IR), and night, multi-engine, and Group 1 instrument-rating endorsements, plus preparation for the SARON and SAMRA exams required for Transport Canada's Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATP(A)), along with aviation-specific English instruction. Graduates complete a minimum of 210 flight hours and 60 hours of simulator practice, including 30 hours of multi-crew coordination (MCC-JET) training on a Boeing 737 simulator. The program prepares graduates for roles such as air-taxi pilot, cargo pilot, aerial work (forest-fire patrol, mapping, aerial photography), and medical evacuation, and can lead to flight-instructor training and, eventually, airline pilot positions.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold training judged sufficient by the College and meet one of the following: an interruption of full-time studies for at least two consecutive sessions or one school year; an agreement between the College and an employer or government program; an interruption of full-time studies for one session combined with one session of full-time postsecondary study; or a Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP). Alternatively, applicants may qualify with a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES) where the program is covered by an agreement between the minister and a Quebec government department or agency (a secondary-level equivalency certificate, AENS, is not accepted). Before classes begin, applicants must pass Transport Canada's medical, vision, and hearing examinations and obtain a Category 1 medical certificate. Priority is given to applications with a secondary-school French average of at least 75%, an English placement-test level of 101 or higher, a complete file including proof of the medical certificate, and a passing interview.
