PGCert in Advanced Care Paramedicine

Advanced Care Paramedicine is a five-semester post-diploma credential at College of the North Atlantic for Primary Care Paramedics seeking to expand their scope of practice. The program builds on Primary Care Paramedicine foundations, developing comprehensive patient assessment, enhanced critical thinking and advanced emergency interventions, including medication administration, advanced airway management and vascular access. Delivery is blended, combining online asynchronous coursework with on-campus labs, clinical simulation and a clinical practicum, and the program is offered at both the Bay St. George and Prince Philip Drive campuses through the School of Health Sciences. Admission requires completion of a paramedic diploma or certificate with a pass on the national COPR Primary Care Paramedic examination, at least one year (1,900 hours) of experience as a PCP, and an active PCP licence to practise in Newfoundland and Labrador. Applicants must also complete CPR certification, mask fit testing, criminal record screening and required immunizations, and hold a Class 04 driver's licence.
