Overview

The Pre-Education Certificate gives you the opportunity to get a taste of the academic courses required to pursue a Bachelor of Education or a Bachelor of Arts degree. All of the courses in the certificate are approved by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch. Courses can also transfer to many universities in BC and Alberta or be used as electives for an arts and science diploma or an associate of arts degree.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission to the Pre-Education Certificate at College of the Rockies requires a grade of at least C+ (65%) in one of English Studies 12, English First Peoples 12 or ENGL090, plus completion of one of three math paths: at least C (60%) in Foundations of Mathematics 11, Pre-Calculus 11, Pre-Calculus 12, Calculus 11, Calculus 12, MATH080 or MATH090; at least B- (70%) in Geometry 12, Statistics 12 or Foundations of Mathematics 12 (or any grade in Foundations of Mathematics 11 combined with 70%+ in Foundations of Mathematics 12); or completion of MATH101 or MATH103. The program page publishes no language test scores; applicants whose first language is not English are subject to College of the Rockies' general English-proficiency requirement — TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS Academic 6.0, CAEL-CE 60 or PTE Academic 56 — per the college's own admission requirements.

Application Deadline: Domestic and international applicants to College of the Rockies both apply through EducationPlannerBC. For the 2027-28 academic year the general application window opens 1 November 2026, and applications received by 28 February 2027 get priority processing for Fall 2027 entry; admission is otherwise rolling with no fixed closing date. International applicants get a decision about two weeks after a complete application, with no separate published international deadline. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is competitive-entry: its window runs 1 November 2026 to 15 February 2027, with final transcripts due 28 February 2027 for Fall 2027 admission. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
