Overview
The Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Foundation is a 24-week pre-apprenticeship programme at College of the Rockies, delivered on-campus and online at the Cranbrook campus, covering all of the competencies of Level 1 of the four-level Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) apprenticeship. Taught by Red Seal certified instructors, the curriculum covers safety-related functions and hazardous-materials handling, tool and equipment use, routine trade activities, communication and mentoring techniques, measuring and layout work, cutting and welding operations, and rigging, hoisting, lifting and moving, alongside Basic First Aid and WHMIS certification. On completion, students receive Level 1 Technical Training credit from SkilledTradesBC, a Certificate of Completion from SkilledTradesBC and College of the Rockies, and credit for 425 hours of work-based training. The programme suits people interested in manufacturing, utilities, mining or ski-hill maintenance who prefer hands-on, practical skill development. High school students may enter through the Youth Train in Trades pathway. As a foundation credential it serves as an entry point into the millwright trade ahead of employer-sponsored apprenticeship training and Red Seal certification.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is competitive-entry: its window runs 1 November 2026 to 15 February 2027, with final transcripts due 28 February 2027 for Fall 2027 admission.
