Overview

This Bachelor of Arts with a Specialization in Early Childhood and Elementary Education is a teacher-certification program that prepares educators to work with children aged two to 12. The curriculum combines theoretical coursework in child development, educational psychology, and Canadian social policy affecting families with practical fieldwork, including supervised student-teaching placements. Students study teaching methods for languages and core subjects alongside classroom management and curriculum design. Full-time study takes a minimum of four years (120 credits), with classes on the Sir George Williams campus and admission in the Fall term only. Graduates are eligible for certification from the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport and qualify to teach in Quebec classrooms.

Admission Requirements: Minimum cut-off averages vary by credential, ranging from 26 for Quebec CEGEP applicants to 29 for IB Diploma applicants. Applicants must also complete a program-specific application, participate in an interview, and provide three references.
