Overview
This Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Moving Image Studies, offered by Concordia's Faculty of Fine Arts, teaches students to read visual culture and engage with the dominant creative language of the last century. The program covers film history globally, from documentary to experimental and narrative film and emergent forms, and students analyze film aesthetics and cultural context while developing critical-thinking skills through writing reviews and cultural criticism. Students choose a Specialization (66 credits), Major (48 credits) or Minor (24 credits). Full-time study takes three to four years (90-120 credits minimum), with classes held on the Sir George Williams campus and admission in the Fall or Winter term. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry from Quebec CEGEP requires a cut-off average of 22. Canadian high-school applicants need a C+ average (ACT/SAT not required); IB Diploma applicants need 26 points; Baccalauréat français applicants need 11; British A-levels require at least two exams with DD or equivalent results; university transfer applicants need a C average. Applicants may be placed on a wait list depending on the applicant pool and space available. Concordia's institution-wide English proficiency minimum applies unless exempt: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 70, or Duolingo 105. Fall applications are due March 1 (February 1 for U.S./international) and Winter applications November 1 (August 1 for U.S./international).
