This Bachelor of Fine Arts in Intermedia (Video, Performance and Electronic Arts), offered through Concordia's Faculty of Fine Arts, lets students explore the relationship between emerging media technologies and fine arts practice across video art, performance art, robotics, sound art and immersive environments, either combining these areas or focusing on one. Students work in state-of-the-art production facilities for video, sound, digital, robotic and performance creation. Full-time study takes a minimum of three to four years (90-120 credits), with classes held on the Sir George Williams campus in Montreal and admission in the Fall term only. Applicants submit a portfolio of at least 15 examples of work in video, electronic or performance art along with a one-page letter of intent. The program suits students pursuing careers or graduate study in experimental and technology-based visual art practice.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry from Quebec CEGEP requires a DEC. Ontario and other Canadian high-school applicants need a C+ overall average; IB Diploma applicants need 26 points overall; British A-level applicants need at least two A-level exams with DD; university transfer applicants need a C average overall. Applicants must also submit an Intermedia portfolio with a minimum of 15 examples of their work plus a one-page letter of intent. Concordia's institution-wide English proficiency minimum applies unless exempt: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 70, or Duolingo 105. Fall applications, including portfolio materials, are due March 1 (February 1 for U.S./international applicants); the program does not admit in the Winter term.
