Overview
Electronics Engineering is an option within the Engineering Science program, leading to a Bachelor of Applied Science from the School of Engineering Science in the Faculty of Applied Sciences. The option focuses on circuit design, computer programming, and complex electronics systems, covering the design and fabrication of systems built from electronic components and subsystems used in communications, control, and computing applications. Engineering Science combines a core of pure, applied, and engineering sciences with option-specific upper-division study, plus courses on the social impacts of technology, finance, management, design methods, and entrepreneurship, alongside an integrated communications course completed throughout the program. The general Bachelor of Applied Science program can be completed in eight academic terms plus a minimum of three co-operative education work terms, with students alternating between study and industry work terms after first year. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must be eligible for university admission, submit a university application, and have successfully completed Physics 12, Mathematics 12, Chemistry 12, and English 12 or equivalents. The program begins each fall term, though admitted students may enter in other terms. External transfer applicants from another post-secondary institution need a minimum of 24 units of transferable coursework, including at least one mathematics course, one computing course, and one physics course from specified lists; admission is competitive. Simon Fraser University students transferring internally from another program are assessed on an engineering-related grade point average, cumulative GPA, number of repeated courses, and course load, and must have completed at least 12 units in the prior term with an overall CGPA of 2.5 or higher. A grade of C- or better in prerequisite courses is required to enroll in Engineering Science courses.
