Overview

The PhD in Economics is a thesis-based doctoral program offered by Concordia University's Department of Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Science. Students build expertise in a chosen area of specialization, such as applied econometrics, labour economics, monetary economics, financial economics, or game theory, working under the supervision of a faculty advisor on an original research thesis. The program is affiliated with the Centre Interuniversitaire de Recherche en Economie Quantitative (CIREQ), a network that lets students take advanced graduate electives at Concordia, McGill University, and the Universite de Montreal. The degree requires 90 credits and has a nominal full-time duration of four years, based at the Sir George Williams campus. New students are admitted in the fall term only, with separate application deadlines for Canadian residents and for U.S. and international applicants.
