The MA in Psychology is a research-intensive program in which students typically advance to the PhD program after one or two years of study. Students pursue research in one of four areas: behavioural neuroscience, clinical and health research, cognitive science, or human development. Two options are available: a Research Option preparing graduates for careers in research, industry, or academia, and a Research and Clinical Training Option that adds professional training in the provision of psychological services. The program requires 45 credits, including 30 credits of research and thesis work, completed over two years of full-time study. Admission requires an undergraduate degree in psychology or a closely related discipline (Research Option) or an honours undergraduate degree in psychology or its equivalent (Research and Clinical Training Option), including specific coursework in statistics, research methods, and the history and systems of psychology. Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate sufficient proficiency for graduate study. The program admits students in the Fall term, with an application deadline of December 1.
