Overview
This program prepares graduates for rewarding careers in the manufacturing industry in the area of mechanical repairs and maintenance. It creates exciting hands-on and theoretical learning for the students to acquire technical skills, knowledge and attitudes fundamental to successful employment in the manufacturing industry. The program supports the acquisition of strong trade-related skills including technical documentation and AutoCAD, advanced health and safety, as well as the foundational technical skills needed for maintenance operations. This program covers all the learning outcomes for Levels 1 and 2 of the related apprenticeship program in Ontario. A graduate of this program may not be required to complete the in-school apprenticeship training or take an exemption exam for Levels 1 and 2 should they choose to pursue an industrial mechanic millwright apprenticeship.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Conestoga's Mechanical Techniques – Industrial Millwright certificate requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or mature student status for applicants 19 or older by the program start. English: Grade 12 Compulsory English at C or U, or equivalent, or Conestoga's Preparatory Communications course (COMM1251). Mathematics: Grade 12 Mathematics at C (60%) or U (50%), or equivalent, or Conestoga's Preparatory Mathematics for Trades & Apprenticeships (MATH1420) at 60%. The admissions page states a minimum academic strength of 60% and a minimum applied-mathematics mark of 60%. Students must provide CSA-approved footwear, safety glasses, and specified hand tools, with the college supplying remaining equipment. Applicants whose prior education was not delivered in English must demonstrate proficiency through an approved evaluation service; no specific IELTS, TOEFL or PTE score is published on this program page.
