Barber Certificate

This certificate programme trains students in barbering through hands-on instruction over 16 weeks at Portage College's Lac La Biche Campus. The curriculum covers haircutting, face shaving, texturizing and design work alongside service-industry standards and client relations, delivered in the college's professional salon facility. Students build a portfolio of completed work as they progress through the programme. Class sizes are kept small so students receive individual attention from instructors. On completion, graduates are eligible to write the provincial theory and practical examinations administered through Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training, a recognised step toward certification as a journeyperson barber in the province's trades qualification system. The programme runs as a single intake each Fall term and is open to both domestic and international applicants.
