This offering of Conestoga's one-year Biotechnology Technician fast-track diploma runs through a partnership with the University of Waterloo: Waterloo Honours Biology and Biomedical Sciences students apply during second year, transfer to Conestoga for their third year of study to complete the diploma, then return to Waterloo - graduating with both a diploma and a degree in just 4 years. At Conestoga they build hands-on laboratory skills in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, analytical chemistry, cell culture and molecular biology, gaining experience and connections in the local biotechnology industry while earning credits toward the Waterloo degree.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This fast-track route, delivered in collaboration with the University of Waterloo, is for applicants who already hold a degree in a biology- or chemistry-related discipline, or the equivalent, from an accredited university or college. Applicants must have completed at least one degree-level Biology credit and at least one degree-level Chemistry credit, with a minimum overall average correlating to a B grade. Credentials earned outside Canada require a course-by-course credential evaluation from an approved provider such as ICAS or WES. Applicants whose prior instruction was not in English must demonstrate English language proficiency; the programme page names no score of its own, so Conestoga's published diploma-level minimum applies: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80 with no skill below 20, PTE Academic 53, or Duolingo 110.
