The Advanced Care Paramedic Diploma is a two-year Keyano College credential that prepares Primary Care Paramedics for advanced roles in emergency medical services, covering advanced medical and trauma care across health-related settings. Coursework spans anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, advanced paramedic skills and life support, with clinical and ambulance practicum terms in each year. Students complete much of the program within their home community before hospital and ambulance practicum placements. Graduates are eligible to write the Canadian Organization of Paramedic Regulators examination to register with the Alberta College of Paramedics. One position per intake year is reserved for qualified applicants of Indigenous ancestry. Admission requires a high-school diploma with minimum grades in English, biology or another 30-level science, and Math, plus a valid Primary Care Paramedic Certificate, Basic Life Support Provider certificate, and Class 4 driver's licence. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the college's English-language-proficiency requirement.
