Overview
Plumbing Technician is a two-year Ontario College Diploma delivered in person at Conestoga's Cambridge - Reuter Drive campus. Students learn the theoretical and practical sides of the plumbing trade - including tools and materials, welding and rigging - from licensed tradespeople, while exploring how sustainable practices and modern technology are shaping plumbing and resource management. Graduates may be exempt from Level 1 of the 306A plumber trade school and also gain the knowledge required for Gas Technician certification.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status at 19 or older. The program asks for Grade 12 compulsory English at the C or U level (or equivalent, or Conestoga's Preparatory Communications COMM1251) and Grade 12 Mathematics at the C or U level (or equivalent, or Preparatory Mathematics MATH1420). International transcripts require a course-by-course credential evaluation through a provider such as ICAS or WES. Applicants whose prior instruction was not in English must meet Conestoga's institution-wide English language requirement, met with an IELTS Academic overall band of 6.0 (no band below 5.5), TOEFL iBT 80 (no skill below 20), PTE Academic 53, CAEL 70 (minimum 60 writing), or Duolingo 110. Graduates of the related Mechanical Techniques - Plumbing certificate may progress directly into Level 3 of this diploma, subject to space.

Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca, where the college-wide equal consideration date is 1 February 2027 for entry in Fall 2027: the application opened on 26 September 2026, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and an offer must be confirmed by 1 May 2027. Applications are still accepted after 1 February in most Conestoga programs, but most oversubscribed programs stop accepting them on that date. International applicants have no fixed deadline - applications are assessed first-come, first-served in the OCAS international applicant portal until the program reaches capacity.
