Program details

Overview

Aimed at registered nurses and registered practical nurses already working in, or moving into, cardiovascular or cardiac care, this part-time graduate certificate centres on the care of adult clients with acute cardiovascular problems. Coursework covers cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, arrhythmia interpretation, advanced cardiac monitoring, assessment skills, and client care spanning prevention, management and rehabilitation. Theory is delivered fully online, and students apply what they learn during a clinical placement in a cardiovascular nursing setting. The program is built around the Canadian Nurses Association's exam competencies for cardiovascular nursing.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: This part-time Ontario College Graduate Certificate requires a current College of Nurses of Ontario Certificate of Registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN); there is no separate academic-credential requirement beyond active RN/RPN registration. As an Ontario College Graduate Certificate, the program falls under Conestoga's higher, graduate-certificate-band English-language requirement, applied where an applicant's transcripts are not in English: IELTS Academic overall band 6.5 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 88 with no skill below 22, PTE Academic 58, or CAEL 70 overall with no sub-test below 60. Canadian citizens and permanent residents whose transcripts are from outside Canada must first have them assessed by a credential-evaluation service such as ICAS or WES. All courses must be completed within four years of acceptance into the program, and applicants apply directly through Ontario Colleges (ontariocolleges.ca).

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca (college code CONS): for the Fall 2027 intake the online application opens 26 September 2026, the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027; most oversubscribed programs stop accepting applications after 1 February 2027, though many programs remain open afterward. Conestoga does not publish a separate equal-consideration date for its January intake. International applicants apply directly to Conestoga and are assessed on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis until each program fills; no fixed international closing date is published. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
