Overview
Through theory and supervised clinical practice using the nursing process, you will focus on stabilizing and caring for the critically ill adult client. Because the program has a flexible curriculum design, it will meet the needs of both the experienced critical care nurse and novice nurse who wants to move into this specialty area.Note: All courses require College of Nurses registration. RPN's are eligible to take individual courses but they are not eligible to register or complete the program certificate at this time.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Entry requires a current College of Nurses of Ontario Certificate of Registration as a Registered Nurse (RN). Because this is an Ontario College Graduate Certificate, applicants whose prior instruction was not in English must meet Conestoga's higher exception-tier requirement: IELTS Academic overall 6.5 (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88 (no skill below 22), PTE Academic 58, CAEL 70 (no sub-score below 60), or Duolingo 120. Before clinical or field placement, students must present required health, safety and immunization documentation and a clear vulnerable-sector police check completed within six months of the placement start date; an unclear record is reviewed with the program chair, and placement is at the discretion of the clinical agency. Applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca, and final selection follows an assessment of the admission requirements.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca (college code CONS): for the Fall 2027 intake the online application opens 26 September 2026, the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027; most oversubscribed programs stop accepting applications after 1 February 2027, though many programs remain open afterward. Conestoga does not publish a separate equal-consideration date for its January intake. International applicants apply directly to Conestoga and are assessed on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis until each program fills; no fixed international closing date is published. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
