Program details

Overview

Biological Engineering (MASc) is a thesis-based master's program offered through Dalhousie University's Department of Process Engineering and Applied Science. The program addresses problems relating to the environment, food and biomaterial production and processing, renewable energy, and reusable resources, with research concentrations in environmental engineering and biosystems engineering, including collaborative international projects. Students complete graduate coursework alongside a supervised research project, culminating in a thesis, with full-time completion normally taking two years or longer. The program offers both full-time and part-time enrolment, with instruction delivered in person at the Halifax campus. Applicants typically identify a research area and a prospective faculty supervisor within the department before applying.
