This professional, course-based Master of Engineering (MEng) applies natural science and engineering principles to biological systems, with focused research streams in environmental engineering and biosystems engineering. Coursework and research projects address environmental concerns and the sustainable use of natural resources within the Department of Process Engineering and Applied Science at Dalhousie University. The program runs a minimum of 16 months of full-time study, with part-time study also available, and is delivered in person on the Halifax campus. Students complete graduate coursework alongside either a project or standalone project option, allowing them to acquire specialized engineering knowledge and advance their careers without committing to a full thesis. Applicants must meet the Faculty of Graduate Studies' minimum admission requirements together with the department's program-specific requirements. The degree is administered jointly by the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Graduate Studies and prepares graduates for technical and design roles that draw on both engineering and biological expertise.
