Languages is a profile within Dawson College's Arts, Literature and Communication Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC), a two-year pre-university program. Students study two or more languages in addition to English and French, choosing from options including Spanish, Italian, German, Mandarin Chinese, and Hebrew, and develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills alongside cultural knowledge. The department offers a student exchange trip to Germany and an internship in Spain, as well as one-on-one sessions with language assistants. Dawson's Languages department is described as the largest in the Quebec CEGEP network and the only one to offer Hebrew. Admission requires a Diploma of Secondary Studies (DES) or an academic background judged equivalent, plus French placement at the 101 level or higher. Graduates receive a DEC and are prepared for university studies in languages, linguistics, translation, or international studies. The program is delivered at Dawson College's downtown Montreal campus.
