Overview
Durham College's Bachelor of Cybersecurity prepares students to protect digital systems, developing skills in risk reduction, threat analysis, digital forensics, secure programming and network defence. Through hands-on labs, case studies and applied projects, students learn to identify vulnerabilities, design mitigation strategies, and secure applications throughout their lifecycle, while also studying the policies, regulations, communication and teamwork needed to support an organization's broader security goals. The program includes a mandatory 420-hour work-integrated learning field placement that gives students supervised, practical industry experience before graduation. Delivered at the Oshawa campus, the degree suits students aiming for technical security roles such as security analyst, penetration and vulnerability tester, security systems administrator, IT security engineer, IT auditor and forensic computer analyst, and builds toward the kind of applied, project-based skill set employers look for in a rapidly evolving cybersecurity field.

Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with Grade 12 mathematics (C or U), Grade 12 English (C or U) and four additional Grade 11 or 12 courses (C, M or U); applicants without an OSSD may instead qualify under Mature Student Status by meeting the same mathematics and English requirements, and post-secondary courses in English and mathematics are accepted as alternatives. No combined admission average is stated. English-language proficiency follows Durham College's institution-wide policy for degree programs: IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 4.5 overall with no section below 4.5 (the scale in effect since 21 January 2026), PTE Academic 60 overall with no section below 57, CAEL 70 overall with no section below 70, or Duolingo English Test 120 or higher; Durham also offers pre-admission assessment testing to domestic applicants aged 19 or over who lack the required English or mathematics credit.
