Overview
Durham College has invested in developing new student work integrated learning opportunities in the Faculty of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship. By enhancing our existing partnerships with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the Durham Region Home Builder’s Association, new field placement and co-op opportunities have been created. Several programs will benefit from these partnerships including Gas Technician 2, Building Construction Technician and Carpentry and Renovation Technician.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Durham College's minimum entry is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or Mature Student Status. The Gas Technician 2 certificate adds Grade 12 English at the C or U level, Grade 12 mathematics at the C, M or U level, and a valid Oil Burner 3 licence or a score of 75 per cent or higher on the Oil Burner 3 practical evaluation; it states no minimum admission average. The program page states no English-language test score of its own for international applicants and points to Durham's institution-wide requirement for certificate, diploma and advanced diploma programs, set out on the college's international admissions page: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80 with no section below 20, PTE Academic 53 overall with no section below 49, CAEL 60 overall with no section below 60, or Duolingo English Test 105; domestic applicants may instead evidence English with the required Grade 12 English credit. To take part in field placement and sit the TSSA G2 exam students must separately hold a Gas Technician 3 licence, and a valid Oil Burner Technician 3 licence to sit the OB2 exam.
