Overview
This certificate in cyber investigation at Polytechnique Montréal develops skills for verifying and investigating crimes and wrongdoing committed over the internet. Courses address hacking, online lures and phishing, and threats to the integrity of internet users and organizations, alongside tools for using search engines in investigations, techniques for investigating online crime, and the psychopathology behind fraud, impersonation, and cybercrime. The 30-credit program can be completed full-time or part-time, with evening and online courses, and is described by the institution as exclusive to Quebec and Canada. It is intended for holders of a college diploma (DEC) or equivalent who want to build cybercrime-investigation skills, as well as professionals in companies and police services who deal with cybercrime and want to update their investigative techniques. It can be combined with two other eligible certificates toward a cumulative bachelor's degree in cybersecurity.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a Québec DEC (college diploma) or the equivalent; the certificate is also intended for professionals in companies and police services who deal with cybercrime and want to update their investigative techniques. As with all Polytechnique Montréal undergraduate certificates, international students holding a study permit cannot be admitted, because these programs do not meet Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada's requirements for that visa category.
