Overview
This Graduate Diploma (DESS) in Computer Engineering is intended for holders of an undergraduate degree in a science-based discipline who want to complete additional graduate-level training in computer engineering. The 30-credit programme comprises up to 6 credits of 4000-level (senior undergraduate) courses, 24 to 30 credits of graduate-level coursework (at least 15 of which must be chosen from the programme's designated course list), and up to 3 credits allocated to a project. Coursework draws on the computer engineering graduate curriculum at Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, covering areas such as digital systems, software, and computer architecture depending on course availability. On completion, graduates receive the Diplome d'etudes superieures specialisees (DESS), with applications accepted for the fall, winter, or summer intake. Applications to the programme are accepted for the fall, winter, or summer intake, subject to departmental evaluation.
Requirements
Minimum GPA:2.50 / 4.0
Admission Requirements: Admission requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or another discipline relevant to the programme, or a university degree of a scientific nature together with training that Polytechnique Montreal considers relevant. Candidates must also have a minimum cumulative average of 2.5 out of 4.0 (or 2.7 out of 4.3, or the recognized equivalent); applicants who do not meet this average may request an exception by presenting a file demonstrating aptitude for graduate study, such as relevant professional experience or further study completed since their university degree. Admitted students must also have a designated director of studies (directeur d'etudes). Meeting these general requirements does not guarantee admission, since each application is also assessed against the specific conditions of the individual programme.
