Overview
My learning experience at Fanshawe in the Professional Butchery Techniques program completely changed my career in such a positive way. It was more than just learning high-level butchery skills. The program also taught me about the industry, from animal processing to running a successful business. Because of the knowledge and confidence I gained, I now compete in butchery competitions and work alongside some of the best butchers in the country. Fanshawe’s supportive culture and hands-on learning environment truly set me up for success and helped me grow both personally and professionally.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature-applicant status with credit in Grade 12 English (College or University stream, C or U). Applicants who do not meet this are directed to academic upgrading, and a conditional offer may be issued on proof of enrolment in the needed course. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Fanshawe's Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas & Certificates English requirement published on the programme page: IELTS Academic overall 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 79 (2026-scale equivalent overall 4.5, no band below 4.0), PTE Academic minimum 53 (no band below 45), CAEL overall 60 (no band below 50, 80 in listening), Cambridge English 169 (no skill below 162), Duolingo 105 (no score below 95), or LanguageCert Academic 65 (no skill below 60).
