This 30-credit certificate gives students advanced knowledge of food transformation to support employment or professional advancement in the food sector. Training covers the fundamentals of food science, with students choosing a concentration in either food safety or food technology and new food products. Coursework combines theory with practical training and case studies. The program requires more than two sessions to complete and up to 15 credits of prior learning may be recognized toward it. Courses may be completed entirely at a distance, giving working students flexibility. Credits earned are transferable toward related baccalaureate programs, including DEC-BAC bridging routes. The certificate is taught in French and admits students in the Fall and Winter terms.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Quebec DEC holders need a DEC in Natural Sciences or a related DEC, or another DEC plus completion of specified courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics. Applicants from elsewhere in Canada: secondary school diploma plus one year of university studies. International applicants need a pre-university diploma totalling 13 years of study, or 12 years plus one year of higher education, with a satisfactory background in science. Non-francophone applicants: TCF tout public test, minimum 361/699 on mandatory sections and 8/20 on written expression. Fall and Winter admission.
