Cert in Food Service Worker (Online)

This online Ontario College Certificate prepares students for entry-level roles in institutional food service settings such as hospitals and long-term care facilities. The curriculum covers human nutrition across the lifecycle, quantity food preparation, menu planning, and portion control, alongside safe food handling practices and the regulations that govern institutional kitchens. Students develop customer service and communication skills relevant to food service teams, and study the food service worker's role in quality management and cost control. Delivery is fully online and self-paced, letting students work through course material on a flexible schedule rather than in scheduled classes. The program does not carry a fixed completion timeline; students must finish all requirements within a set window after starting. Graduates are prepared to support food production and service in health care, long-term care, and other institutional dining environments, working alongside dietitians, cooks, and other food service staff.
