Overview
This two-year accelerated diploma immerses students learning Anishinaabemowin language and culture in a learning environment located in-community at Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, southwest of London, Ontario. Alongside language study, coursework covers skills for passing the language on to others, teaching children, and adult-education theory, offering a pathway into further study in related fields such as community services.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature-applicant status; applicants without a high school diploma may instead complete Fanshawe's Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Grade 12 Equivalency Certificate. The programme page does not carry its own English-proficiency table, so Fanshawe's institution-wide Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas & Certificates tier applies (see the college's general admission requirements page): IELTS Academic overall 6.0 with no band below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT 79 (2026-scale equivalent overall 4.5, no band below 4.0), plus the college's other accepted tests (PTE Academic, CAEL, Cambridge English, Duolingo, LanguageCert, ESL4/GAP5), for any applicant whose first language is not English.
Application Details
Start Date:Full-time starts currently open: September 2026 (London Campus Off Site). Starts open to international applicants: September 2026 (London Campus Off Site) — one offerings table covers both; international applicants apply through Fanshawe's VAS. (Listed on the Fanshawe program page, checked 6 September 2026.)
Application Deadline:This program sets its own intake pattern, which overrides the college-wide cycle: Fanshawe states it is offered every other year and accepts applications for even Fall intakes only (for example Fall 2026 and Fall 2028), so there is no Winter, Spring/Summer or odd-year Fall entry to apply for. September 2026 is the only offering the page currently lists as open; the next one after it is Fall 2028. Fanshawe publishes no cut-off date specific to this program. Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca, where everything received by the 1 February equal consideration date for that Fall is assessed together and later applications are taken in order of receipt until the program fills; offers to non-competitive programs begin going out 1 November and 1 May is the usual deadline to accept an offer. International applicants apply directly to Fanshawe (CAD 100 fee) through its VAS and have no single published cut-off; for a September start Fanshawe instead requires proof of study-permit approval by 10 August and all admission conditions cleared by 15 August.
