Overview

The Photography program provides training for students in the professional aspects of the photography industry. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of video and audio capture using DSLR cameras. Production work includes instruction in black and white and colour using digital printing systems. This program integrates the use of high-end laptops, digital imaging and video editing software in the curriculum. Videography, business planning, portfolio development and social marketing are value-added courses, providing you with additional skills needed to succeed as a photographer.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature-applicant status; applicants without a high school diploma may instead complete Fanshawe's Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Grade 12 Equivalency Certificate. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas & Certificates English requirement published on the programme page: IELTS Academic overall 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 79 (2026-scale equivalent overall 4.5, no band below 4.0), PTE Academic minimum 53 (no band below 45), CAEL overall 60 (no band below 50, 80 in listening), Cambridge English 169 (no skill below 162), Duolingo 105 (no score below 95), or LanguageCert Academic 65 (no skill below 60).

Application Deadline: Fanshawe publishes no deadline specific to this program — these are the college-wide dates. Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027 for Fall 2027 entry (the cycle opened 26 September 2026), and applications arriving after it are assessed in order of receipt until the program fills.
