Overview
Construction Craft Worker Foundations is a free, full-time, 18-week Ontario College Certificate program at George Brown College, developed with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) for students who identify mental health and/or addictions challenges as a barrier to education and employment. Delivered in a hands-on, small-group format with job-coaching support, the program combines classroom and construction-lab instruction, at roughly 30 to 35 hours per week, with 160 hours of work placement and workshops to build entry-level skills for Toronto's construction industry. Admission is based on an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, a mental health and/or addictions history, and mature student status (19 years of age or older), with a selection process that includes an application, an academic assessment, a skills assessment, and an interview. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles such as construction labourer, carpentry helper, masonry helper, cement-finishing helper, and demolition worker. The program begins in May.
