Program details

Overview

Open to graduates who already hold a related diploma or a degree in a comparable discipline, this fast-track stream teaches students to support children aged between six weeks and 12 years across a variety of early childhood education settings. It builds on prior related study rather than starting from an entry-level foundation.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Entry requires a bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field, or one year completed toward an Early Childhood Education credential plus relevant experience working with children (a resume is required). All qualified applicants must also pass a two-week paid orientation course each August; an offer is conditional on successfully completing it, and applicants who fail cannot continue in the program. Domestic applicants must apply by July 17, 2026, and the cohort finishes with a final placement the following May. Applicants with international transcripts who do not submit English-proficiency test results must instead sit George Brown's college-level English assessment. Before the mandatory field placement, students need Standard First Aid with CPR Level C, a vulnerable-sector police check, and medical clearance.

Application Details

Application Deadline: No program-specific application deadline is published; George Brown follows the standard Ontario college cycle. Domestic applicants apply through OntarioColleges.ca: for programs starting in Fall 2027 the application opened 26 September 2026, colleges may release offers from 1 November 2026, the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027, and an offer for a September start must be accepted by 1 May 2027, with the tuition deposit due in June 2027. International applicants apply directly to George Brown and are assessed on a rolling, selective basis until the intake is full; George Brown publishes no fixed international closing date, though for the 2026-27 cycle the September, January and May intakes opened 6 October 2025, 2 February 2026 and 1 June 2026 respectively. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
