Overview

The Early Childhood (EC) Management Certificate (Post-Diploma) is a part-time George Brown College certificate that prepares supervisors and directors for roles in childcare programs, family childcare, preschools, nursery schools, family drop-in centres, family literacy programs, and early intervention services, as well as for management and leadership positions in Ontario's integrated early childhood system. The program consists of six courses, five compulsory and one elective, covering communication skills, curriculum design and pedagogical leadership, staff supervision and development, financial management, and advocacy and policy issues in the early years sector. Admission requires one year of full-time experience in an early childhood setting and either an Early Childhood Education diploma with Ministry approval as a director or supervisor in a regulated child care setting, or current work in an early childhood or family setting outside a regulated program. The program is open to domestic students only and begins in September, January, and May.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants must have one year of full-time experience in an early childhood setting and be either an Early Childhood Education diploma graduate (or equivalent) approved by the Ontario Ministry for Children and Youth Services and currently working as a director or supervisor in a regulated child care setting, or currently working in an early childhood or family setting that is not a regulated childcare program. This program is open to domestic students only.
