Overview
This 45-credit graduate program leads to a Master of Science (MSc) in data science and business analytics at HEC Montreal, delivered on site at the Cote-des-Neiges campus in Montreal with day classes offered full-time or part-time. The curriculum focuses on optimization, modelling, statistics, and machine learning and deep learning methods for data-driven decision-making, with required courses in fundamentals of optimization, machine learning, statistical learning, and statistical modelling, plus electives such as deep learning, natural language processing, stochastic optimization, and forecasting methods. HEC Montréal's masters admission page, which this programme's own page defers to for eligibility, sets a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.3 scale for the undergraduate degree, or the higher average required for graduate admission by the granting university if that is greater. For English, an applicant meets the requirement through an English-medium education or by passing an approved English test or programme at the intermediate-advanced level; on HEC Montréal's own language-requirements table this level corresponds to IELTS Academic 5.5-6.5, TOEFL iBT 72-94 (4-5.5 under the scale used from January 2026), or PTE Academic 50-65. No GMAT, GRE, or TAGE MAGE is required for this specialization.
