Overview

The Fundamental Arts certificate gives students a one-year foundation in visual art, with courses in art history, drawing, design, animation and digital photography. Students explore a range of artistic mediums and build a portfolio of work. The program is delivered on campus at the Charlottetown Centre of the Prince of Wales Campus. It is intended as a foundation for further study or careers in visual arts fields, and students are required to supply their own Apple iPad and Apple Pencil stylus before the program begins.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants need Grade 12 or equivalent with credits at or above the general level and must submit a portfolio, which is a significant factor in admission, along with a resume documenting work and volunteer experience, memberships, and awards or distinctions. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Holland College's English Language Requirements.
