This two-year diploma trains automotive service technicians, covering mechanical systems, computers, networks, electronics, and non-mechanical systems used in modern vehicles. Instruction combines classroom study with hands-on training in Holland College's on-campus automotive shop, plus a period of on-the-job training with an industry employer, and class sizes are limited to 20 students. The program is delivered at the Summerside Waterfront Campus, and students accumulate apprenticeship hours toward Red Seal certification as an automotive service technician. The program is recognized by the Canadian Armed Forces as qualifying for subsidized training and salary support for the Vehicle Technician occupation under the Non-Commissioned Member Subsidized Training and Education Plan, with graduates eligible for advanced standing in that role. Admission requires a Grade 12 credential or equivalent, a valid Class 5 driver's license, and a resume, with preference given to applicants with Grade 11 or 12 academic English, math, and physics.
