Diploma in Techniques de pharmacie at John Abbott College in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Canada is a diploma in Pharmacy programme. The programme runs for 3 years. Teaching is in French. Tuition for international students is CAD 23,480 per year (CAD 3,740 per year for local students).
Pharmacy Technology is a three-year technical program training students for the technical, administrative, and clinical work of a pharmacy technician. The college states it is the only CEGEP offering this program in English. Coursework covers information technology, pharmacology and pharmacokinetics, biology, pathology, quality assurance, and both sterile and non-sterile compounding, taught through a mix of lectures and hands-on labs based on real-world scenarios. In the program's final semester, students complete a mandatory nine-week internship split between a community pharmacy and a hospital setting, with some placements available in northern Quebec communities. Graduates are described as working under a pharmacist's supervision to process prescriptions, dispense medication, manage pharmacy inventory and technical staff, and apply quality-control and risk-management procedures. The page positions the role within Quebec's broader medication-safety system and highlights growing responsibilities for technicians as pharmacist workloads increase. It suits students who want a healthcare-system role that combines technical precision with public-facing service, are comfortable with technology, and can work both independently and as part of a pharmacy team.
