The Business Aviation Diploma is a two-year Keyano College credential offered at the Clearwater Campus in partnership with McMurray Aviation, combining business coursework with flight training to Transport Canada standards. Students complete common first-year courses in business communications, financial accounting and business mathematics alongside private pilot flight theory and lab instruction, then choose a second-year specialization in either Northern Aviation Operations or Airline Operations. Through the program, students work toward a private and commercial pilot's licence, preparing graduates for careers in northern aviation or airline operations. Two positions per intake year are reserved for qualified Canadian Indigenous applicants. Admission requires an Alberta high-school diploma with minimum grades in English and Math, and a Transport Canada Category 1 medical examination for the flying component; a discovery flight or equivalent is recommended before admission to assess flight tolerance. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the college's English-language-proficiency requirement.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Business Aviation Diploma requires an Alberta high-school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 60% in English 30-1 or 65% in English 30-2, and a minimum of 50% in Math 30-1 or 55% in Math 30-2. Mature applicants aged 21 or older may be admitted by completing the same English and Math courses at the required grades, or by passing the College Entrance Assessment. All applicants must hold a valid Transport Canada Medical Examination Category 1 for the flying component, and a 'Discovery Flight' or equivalent is strongly recommended before admission to confirm flight tolerance. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Keyano College's English-language-proficiency requirement, met through TOEFL iBT (minimum 79, no section below 19), IELTS Academic (minimum 6.0), CAEL (minimum 60), Duolingo English Test (minimum 95) or PTE Academic (minimum 50), or by presenting six or more years of full-time education, including grade 12 or higher, completed in English.
