Overview
Lakehead University's Electrical Engineering program leads to a Bachelor of Engineering degree combined with a diploma in Engineering Technology over four years at the Thunder Bay campus. Coursework covers the physical-science fundamentals of electrical engineering alongside applied areas including industrial control systems, communication systems, electronic circuits, and the generation and distribution of electrical power, with specializations available in power systems, power electronics, embedded systems, fuzzy control, wireless communications, and fibre optics. Courses combine lecture and laboratory components, requiring approximately 27 hours of in-class time per week. The program is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). An optional co-operative education stream provides at least 16 months of paid work experience, and an optional five-year stream combines the degree with an MBA. The program suits students seeking an accredited electrical engineering degree with defined specialization tracks and the option of extended paid work terms.
