Overview

Lakehead University's Environmental Management program leads to an Honours Bachelor of Science over four years at the Thunder Bay campus. Students share a common first-two-year curriculum with Forestry students, covering forest ecology and natural-resource management, before specializing in areas such as Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Conservation Planning, or Sustainable Land Use, building a background in forest environments and industry-standard geomatics tools. Students in the Wildlife Conservation specialization are eligible for Certified Wildlife Biologist accreditation through The Wildlife Society, and graduates receive Environmental Professional Certification from ECO Canada. The program emphasizes experiential learning and fieldwork, drawing on Lakehead's location in Northwestern Ontario's diverse natural landscape for hands-on study. The program suits students seeking a science-based environmental credential with defined specialization streams and professional certification pathways.
