Program details

Overview

The Recreation Management Bachelor's Degree covers the third and fourth years of a bachelor's degree, intended for students who already hold an academic credential or 60 university-transferable credits and want to pursue a career in the recreation field. Coursework combines management theory with practical knowledge through specialized recreation courses.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Entry to third year requires either graduation from Langara's Recreation Leadership diploma, or at least 60 transfer-credit-eligible post-secondary credits combined with relevant recreation experience; no minimum GPA is published for either route. English proficiency is met by a minimum of six credits of university-transferable English or communications coursework rather than a standardised test score. Transfer-route applicants complete a Supplemental Recreation Program Application Form covering recreation experience, academic background and career goals, and Langara individually assesses whether their combined academic and practical experience is equivalent to the Recreation Leadership diploma's learning outcomes. All admitted students must eventually complete RECR 1160 (Foundations of Leisure and Recreation) and MARK 1115 (Introduction to Marketing) among their required courses.
