Overview
Career Development Professional is a full-time, in-person certificate that runs Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm, over a minimum of four months, with a single September intake each year and a two-week workplace practicum that Langara arranges on students' behalf. Its nine courses move through career development theory and technique, labour-market research, career assessment tools, job-search and placement methods, grant and proposal writing, adult-education facilitation, and career-software skills, and also build in Personality Dimensions Level 1 Trainer and Job Finding Club Facilitator certifications. Admission favours candidates who already have roughly a year of related work or volunteer experience — in fields like career counselling, HR, teaching, or customer service — plus post-secondary education or equivalent practical background and strong spoken and written English. Graduates become eligible for the Certified Career Development Practitioner and Global Career Development Facilitator designations, and the coursework can also count toward continuing-education credit for vocational rehabilitation certifications.

Admission Requirements: Applications for the full certificate are accepted for the September start date only, with limited seats, so early application is advised; individual courses can also be taken separately via CRN registration without applying to the full program, and no supporting documents such as transcripts are required for the certificate application. Applicants should have a good command of spoken and written English; if English is not a first language, recommended (not mandatory) benchmarks include IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 80 overall (Listening 22, Reading 22, Speaking 21, Writing 21), completion of LEAP Level 8, B.C. Grade 12 English or Communications 12 (or equivalent), a Langara-recognized post-secondary English/Communications transfer course, Langara English Test (LET) Level 2, or ILAC Pathway 3.3 (Level 16, valid two years).
