Overview
The two-year, four-term Diploma in Library & Information Technology has been developed in accordance with the recommendations made by the Canadian Library Association Committee on Library Technicians (Role and Education). The program prepares students for para-professional duties in libraries. Students will spend more than one-half of their time learning library and related business techniques. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must provide an official document proving they meet Langara's Category 2 English requirement, Langara's baseline standard: English Studies 12/Literary Studies 12 at 50%, IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80 (Writing 20, Reading 20, Listening 18, Speaking 18), Duolingo 110, CAEL 60, or PTE Academic 56. A Letter of Intent addressing interest in the programme, library experience, employment history and the role of libraries in the applicant's life is required, along with an official post-secondary or high-school transcript. Shortlisted applicants complete a Zoom interview, including a Computer Usage Survey, and a Brightspace-administered test with short written answers and a filing exercise. International applicants must contact the International Education office for further requirements.

International applicants use the same EducationPlannerBC portal but face fixed closing dates: 30 September 2026 for Spring 2027, 31 January 2027 for Summer 2027 and 31 May 2027 for Fall 2027. A short list of limited-enrolment programmes - Nursing, Advanced Entry BSN, Nursing Practice in Canada, Applied Science for Engineering and the Post-Degree Diploma in Data Analytics - set their own, earlier deadlines that apply to both applicant types.
