Overview
This diploma program at NorQuest College prepares students to support individuals with disabilities in reaching their goals at school, at work, and in daily life. The two-year, four-term curriculum covers person-centred planning, advocacy, community participation, and communication strategies for working with people across the lifespan. Students complete 400 hours of field experience plus a 90-hour field practicum seminar. The program is based at the Edmonton campus. Graduates are prepared for roles such as disability support worker, community outreach worker, early interventionist, education assistant, and employment assistance worker. The programme qualifies for a post-graduate work permit but is not currently open to international students.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2 at 60% (or the equivalent ESLG 1860/1898 at 60%); a free academic assessment is available for applicants who have submitted an application. Non-native English speakers must submit proof no more than two years old: IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6, TOEFL iBT 84 with no section below 21, Cambridge English 180 with no section below 165, CAEL 70, PTE Academic 59 with no section below 56, or Duolingo 115. A 2.0 term and cumulative GPA is required to remain in good standing and to graduate. The programme is not currently open to international students.
