McMaster's MA in Greek and Roman Studies is offered by the Department of Classics in the Faculty of Humanities. The program studies the cultures of the ancient Mediterranean, particularly Greece and Rome, drawing on history, archaeology, philosophy and literature, with primary sources read in Latin and Ancient Greek. Students build deeper knowledge of Greek and Roman civilization, strengthen their ancient-language ability, and develop research and critical-thinking skills through coursework and a research component. The degree can be completed in one or two years depending on the option chosen by the student. The program admits for September entry, with applications typically due January 15. It also serves as a pathway into the department's PhD program for students pursuing further study in Classics.
